After several years as an independent consultant, in 2018 I launched THIRST – The International Roundtable for Sustainable Tea – a platform for civil society organisations to come together and work for a fair and sustainable tea industry where workers and farmers are empowered and their rights and environment are protected.
I am available for consultancy work that helps stakeholders within the tea sector to improve working conditions for tea workers and farmers. I’m also open to other work in similar or related sectors.
Sabita did a wonderful job in cutting through the complexity and coming up with tangible and pivotal recommendations based on thorough analysis. She masterfully presented her findings to our membership and helped us shape a new strategy.
– Erinch Sahan, Chief Executive, World Fair Trade Organization
Sabita brings her passion and commitment for the rights agenda to her work, combining this with a desire to create workable solutions and an ability to work directly with workers, business or NGOs to achieve progress.
– Peter McAllister, Executive Director, ETI
Experience
With over two decades experience in ethical trade, fair trade and international development I provide a mature, professional and innovative service to organisations working for economic and social justice.
From 2012-2017 I worked in the Ethical Trading Initiative, a multi-stakeholder initiative convening companies, trade unions and NGOs to improve working conditions in global supply chains.
Since then I have worked on developing Oxfam’s Behind the Barcodes Supermarket Scorecard, helped to launch Oxfam’s Business Advisory Service and am helping to deliver a number of Human Rights Impact Assessments.
Sabita was chosen as the first Private Sector Advisor for Oxfam’s newly launched Business Advisory Service. She helped to promote OBAS and deliver consultancies for leading UK and European companies. In delivering this work, she provided insight based on her extensive experience in the field, was always thoughtful… and was not afraid to be challenging where needed.
– Alex Lankester, former Head of Private Sector Partnerships, Oxfam GB
Sabita is very values driven and really knows her stuff. But as well as being very talented in her own right she has a really wide network and access to a massive range of infuencers.
– Michael Kelly, former Head of CSR at KPMG and Chair of the Living Wage Foundation
